We hope you enjoy taking a look at Asheville's Organicfest over the years.

The seed for Organicfest was planted in 1999 with concern about the genetic engineering of our food crops and the lack of labeling to inform us that we were feeding GMO foods to our children!

A small group of concerned folks put together our first event in four weeks with a "Don't be Fooled by Genetically Engineered Foods" rally where we marched through the streets of downtown Asheville. With a desire to focus on the "good" and "labeled" foods we have available (by law, organic foods can not contain genetically modified seeds or ingredients!) we decided to focus on a positive approach to educating folks about the "goodness of organics" and the challenges of GMO foods ... and the Organicfest was born.
